Maksim Chuprov
Maksim’s family lives in Syktyvkar, the capital of Komi Republic. Maksim was born in August, 12th 1995. He is 18 years old now.
He started doing sports before his school: he went to a swimming pool from the age of 5, since he was 10 he has been swimming on a higher level. Maksim is a sub-master sportsman of swimming. He was a member of the Junior team of the North- Western region. He was a winner of numerous competitions.
Unfortunately, a serious illness changed his plans. In December, 2011, when Maksim was 16, his results in sports started getting much worse. He was feeling weak and weary. The boy was thoroughly examined and, according to blood test results, at the beginning of February, 2012 he was taken to the oncohematological department of the Hospital of the Republic for children. There he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Maksim was going through the chemotherapy with real courage. Although the treatment had serious side effects he never complained.
In May, 2013 he was transplanted bone marrow from the donor found with the help of a foreign register in the Clinic of Gorbachov Institute of Childrens Oncology, Hematology and Transplantology in Saint Petersburg ( a Regional charity organization helped us to find the donor).
The transplantation was successful. Maksim recovered very fast, so in the summer he left the hospital. Everything went well until recently. Maksim was back to studies, but at the end of the year he had an acute outbreak of intestinal form of graft-versus-host. Maksim needs an expensive antimycotic\antifungual medicine Vfend® Because of his low immunity he needs 4 packs a month ( 1 pack costs 23350 rub). The family doesn’t have enough money to buy the medicine. Maksim’s mother is a nurse, his father is a driver. His parents take turns to take care of the boy at the hospital.
Maksim is an extremely brave and courageous guy, but he cannot do without your help.
